Holistic Bodywork

Holi-what?

The word holistic comes from the Greek word 'holos', meaning 'entire' or 'all'.

Which means we see you as a whole, a complete system, rather than individual parts. You don't have a body, you are a body.

In a holistic bodywork session the aim is to create more body awareness, (re)connect with all the aspects that make you you; physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically.

Every session is uniquely tailored to your needs and we work with whatever arises in the moment, without working towards a specific outcome or solution. We can get insight on the pieces, but we don’t have to solve the puzzle.

I say “we”, because this is not a treatment that you are only receiving. I offer you a safe space so you can take responsibility for your own process.

During a session a lot can happen; you may experience things that you have been (unconsciously) pushing away for many years, old memories can come up, pain and fear can rise to the surface, sudden waves of emotions may pass by, or your body can start “working” by involuntary movement. Know that whatever happens, the process is best supported by allowing all these things to just happen and being present with them. Rather than understanding with your mind, we will listen to the knowledge of your body as a whole, the wisdom is already inside.

A session can feel demanding and challenging and at the same time it can also be extremely liberating and fun. We are not looking for a specific outcome. Being in movement and feeling change are the things we want to invite, without judgment.

Know that whatever arises, you are ready for it and capable of holding.

I may use a variety of tools from somatic bodywork, Grinberg techniques (working with pain and fear), focusing, energy and intuitive work to support you in your process.

Some people need only one session. For others it’s helpful to come more often. In all cases, if I feel unable to provide you with the right service, I will always try to connect you to another practitioner that can.
